The community of Bahía Ballena is located in the pacific south of Costa Rica and has many adventures to offer its visitors. Bahía is home of the Marino Ballena National Park, which was created in 1989 and contains 5.375 marine hectares and 115 terrestrial hectares. The park is visited by humpback and pilot whales, as well as other marine species. The local area also has primary forest, rivers, waterfalls, and is home to different animals for example; white faced monkeys, congo monkeys, anteater, three toed sloth’s, insects, reptiles, and more than 400 bird species.

 Butterfly Garden

The Butterfly Colonies S.A., a private project owned and maintained by an experienced family of Costa Rican naturalists with the purpose of reproducing some of the less common species of butterflies in the southern pacific region of Costa Rica for education, exhibition, and exportation.

Train your eyes to view a hidden paradise of colors, camouflages, and Mother Natures magic on 2 hectares, where you can tour a reproduction garden, exhibition garden, art gallery and more. With your visit to the Butterfly Colonies you will support efforts to conserve the pristine forests and habitats of the Bahía Ballena area. Butterflies are active pollinators and many flowers and plants depend on them for survival. At the Butterfly Colonies we believe that proper education and understanding of these majestic insects will help us maintain a beautiful world.

 Surf School

Uvita Surf School is a company dedicated to teaching and instructing surfing in the beautiful Marino Ballena National Park. We have other services such as professional ding repair, rentals, buy and sell surfboards and much more. Uvita surf school has the necessary equipment for surf activities: surfboards, leashes, body boards, wax, and fins. Our surf lessons are in Uvita Beach (Marino Ballena National Park).

 Photography Session

Hire our local Costa Rican photographer Ronald Guzman Mora (see gallery of photos) to capture the finest moments during your adventures. Ronald is famous in the local zone and his pictures and post cards can be purchased in our tour office or in the local hotels. Ronald has been contracted by international tour companies and his enthusiasm and talent is phenomenal.

 Horseback tours - Waterfall - Hiking - Bird Watching

Be adventurous and join us in the rainforest for hikes or horseback riding through switchbacks to waterfalls, rivers, and natural springs with the possibility to observe plentiful flora and fauna.  Kayak and Mangroves

The south pacific offers itself to kayak tours in Uvita-Bahia and the famous mangrove ecosystems of Sierpe - Terraba located in the province of Puntarenas, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica, approximately 30 km from Palmar Norte. The mangrove ecosystem of Sierpe - Terraba is the largest in all of Central America and covers an area of 30,654 hectares. Here you will be immersed into the ecosystem as you examine close up the intricate beauty of many species of birds, fish, mammals and reptiles Here you will learn the important direct and indirect role the mangroves play in maintaining the fish stock.
